Overview
Hampta Pass is a high altitude Himalayan pass at 14,100 feet which joins Kullu and Spiti valleys in Himachal Pradesh. A huge number of trekkers throng the Hampta Pass trek every year to trail amidst the giant Himalayas with breathtaking views on the trail. The starting base to this trek is village Chikka near Manali which is quite easy to reach due to good road, rail & air connectivity in the region.

Hampta Pass trek encompasses almost everything that an adventure seeker looks for in a Himalayan trail – scenic meadows, dense forests, deep valleys and up front views of the higher Himalayan peaks. Around 2 hours of steep descent and 1 hours of flat walk from the Pass to camp sight

Rothang pass road is a very busy route; driving time may increase due to of heavy traffic.

NOTE: You can visit Chandratal, only if road and weather condition permits us. If not, you will have to drive directly from Chhatru to Manali and skip Chandratal all together.
1. What is the difficulty level of Hampta Pass trek ?
Hampta Pass is an easy to moderate level trek suitable for all hikers. The involves 5-6 hours of daily trekking on an average.
2. Is Hampta Pass trek for beginners ?
Yes, its a highly recommended trek for beginners as it gives a rich insight into Himalayan trekking within a span of 5 days. However, some portions of the trail are high gradient which can be bit challenging for beginners.
3. How long is the Hampta Pass trek ?
The total trek is 25 km approx. i.e from Chikka on Day 1 to Chhatru on Day 4. The trek involves on an average 7-8 km / 5 -6 hours of daily hiking.
4. Is it necessary to hire a guide on this trek ?
Yes, it is absolutely highly recommended to take a guide for Hampta Pass trek whether you are trekking solo or in a group.
5. What is the best season for this trek ?
The best season for Hampta Pass trek is from June to Sept end.
6. Will there be snow at Hampta trek in May-June ?
Yes, Hampta Pass trek is snow bound till June end to early July.
7. Is this trek suitable for kids ?
It is ideally recommended for 15+ age kids.
8. Is this trail safe for women & solo travelers ?
Yes, in fact all the Himalayan trails are quite safe for women & solo travelers. People of the region are very warm, caring & hospitable in nature.
9. What type of accommodation is available during this trek ?
Camping tent accommodation (2-3 per tent) for 4 nights.
10. What is the washroom facility on Hampta Pass trek ?
The trekking region is a reserved forest area where only temporary campsites are permitted by the forest deptt. So there are camping tents alongwith toilet tents on the campsite.
11. Do we have to give tip money to guides / porters ?
Guides & porters in the region will never demand any tip money from you. They just need their daily wages paid by the trek operator. However, it is always encouraging if one can give a little tip to them if they provide good services.
12. Which currency is accepted during transit or in nearby villages on this trek ?
Indian currency (INR) is accepted here.
